Available Themes

SmarterForm offers four themes total: one Free theme and three Pro themes.

Default (Free)

The Default theme is included with all accounts. It features:

• Clean, professional design
• All questions visible on one page
• Standard form layout with labels and inputs
• Works great for most use cases

Conversational (Pro)

A Typeform-style one-question-at-a-time experience. Features:

• One question per screen: Reduces cognitive load
• Progress indicator: Shows how far along the respondent is
• Smooth transitions: Animated navigation between questions
• Keyboard navigation: Press Enter to advance
• Best for: Surveys, quizzes, onboarding flows, longer forms

Minimal (Pro)

An ultra-clean, distraction-free design. Features:

• Maximum whitespace: Lots of breathing room
• Subtle borders: Minimalist visual elements
• Focus on content: Questions take center stage
• Best for: Elegant presentations, high-end brands, simple forms

Soft (Pro)

A gentle, approachable design with rounded edges. Features:

• Rounded corners: Softer, friendlier appearance
• Gentle shadows: Subtle depth without harshness
• Warmer feel: More inviting and approachable
• Best for: Community surveys, feedback forms, customer-facing forms

How to Change Your Theme

   Open your form

   Navigate to your form in the Dashboard.

   Go to Design tab

   Click the Design tab in the left sidebar.

   Select a theme

   In the Theme section, you'll see all available themes. Click any theme to preview it.

   PRO themes will show a badge. Free accounts will see an upgrade prompt when clicking Pro themes.

   Preview in real-time

   The center canvas updates immediately to show how your form looks with the selected theme. Test it by scrolling through your questions.

   Save

   Your theme choice is saved automatically. Publish your form to make the new theme live for respondents.

Choosing the Right Theme

Here's how to pick the best theme for your use case:

Use Default when...

• You have a short form (5 questions or fewer)
• You want respondents to see all questions at once
• You're embedding the form on your website
• You prefer a traditional form layout

Use Conversational when...

• You have a longer form (10+ questions)
• You want higher completion rates (one question at a time reduces overwhelm)
• You're creating a quiz or interactive experience
• You want to guide respondents step-by-step

Use Minimal when...

• You want an elegant, high-end aesthetic
• Your brand is minimalist
• You have a short, focused form
• Visual simplicity is a priority

Use Soft when...

• You want a friendly, approachable feel
• You're targeting a broad consumer audience
• You want something less corporate/formal

Themes and Backgrounds

All themes work with all background options. You can combine:

• Conversational theme + custom uploaded background
• Minimal theme + solid color background
• Soft theme + preset photo background

Mobile Responsiveness

All themes are fully responsive and optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop devices. The Conversational theme is particularly well-suited for mobile since it shows one question at a time.
